Welcome to Irepodun Local Government

HISTORY OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT : Irepodun Local Government was formerly an integral part of Osogbo Local Government which came into existence in 1976 following the promulgation of Edict 5 of the old Oyo State Government by Brigadier (now Major General) David Jemibewon (rtd). It consisted of two towns, Ilobu and Erin Osun, and other smaller villages and hamlets.Ilobu is the headquarters of the local government. Ilobu and its environs was a virgin land before Larosin left Oyo town on hunting expedition in the 16th century. He first settled in Iregba and later moved to the site of the present day Ilobu. Ilobu name ILOBU was originally called ILU OBU O TOYO because of the availability of salt in the place. It was later shortened to ILU OBU and ILOBU.
